Do the commissioners on the District board get paid?
Short answer: NO!
Long answer: All commissioners on the board have waived any compensation. The District’s bylaws do allow for compensation (by resolution only) of up to $128/day with a not to exceed value of $12,288/year but all commissioners are committed to working to get the pool built on a purely volunteer basis. The commissioners & other volunteers have volunteered uncountable hours in working towards building the pool.
Based on estimates, so far the commissioners have volunteered:
Over 1,000 hours to get the District up and running in the first year
Approximately 1,800 - 2,200 hours per year (~10,000 hrs over 5 years) running the District including the following tasks:
Ongoing management & governance (organizing meetings, maintaining community relations, coordinating with vendors, managing budget, vendor payments & donations, record keeping, & communications)
Financial oversight & reporting (including WA State Audits that take place every 3 years)
Managing the capital construction project - overseeing contractors, coordinating with vendors & governmental entities, managing compliance
