Pool for the People!
In 2018, the White Salmon community voted overwhelmingly in favor (60%) of forming the White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District, whose sole focus is to construct, operate, and maintain a new swimming pool.
Using feedback gathered from our community during commissioned studies, public meetings, comments and surveys, the White Salmon Valley Pool Metro Park District has rallied around the following outdoor extended summer-season pool plan:
a multi-lane, 25 yard swimming pool for general recreation, lap and competitive short course swimming;
a separate warmer pool to be used for teaching aquatics, physical therapy and recreation;
a splash pad/wading pool with waterplay features;
a bathhouse with gender-specific and private changing rooms and office/check-in areas;
a community room that can be rented for meetings, parties and other events.
See additional pool FAQs here. View a fly-thru video of the conceptual plan here.
Plan
Our White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District has been active for about one year, but in that time the Park District has been able to establish the new park district while making substantial progress toward creating a new pool facility.
The Park District Commission and their dedicated team of volunteers are focusing on facilitating the ultimate pool design and working on the development plan that will help us get the new pool built!
Build
We have negotiated a lease with the White Salmon Valley School District for a choice site adjacent to Henkle Middle School and we’ve developed a solid schematic design that encompasses the years of public input, is respectful of the site & the needs of the community.
Swim
